Ruminant Performance
Rumen Health
Buffering agents, yeast cultures, and fermentation modifiers that stabilize rumen pH, improve fiber digestion, and protect rumen function under high-concentrate and heat-stress conditions.
The Challenge
Subacute rumen acidosis is the most underdiagnosed production problem in dairy herds.
Subacute ruminal acidosis (SARA) occurs when rumen pH drops below 5.8 for extended periods — typically without obvious clinical signs. The consequences are significant: reduced fiber digestion, lower dry matter intake, laminitis, liver abscesses, and suppressed milk fat. In high-producing herds fed energy-dense rations, SARA prevalence can exceed 20% of the herd at any given time.
Our Approach
Multi-component rumen buffering matched to your ration and management system.
ViaFeed rumen health programs combine sodium bicarbonate and magnesium oxide for immediate buffering capacity, live yeast cultures to stabilize rumen pH and stimulate fiber-digesting bacteria, and specific fermentation modifiers that reduce lactic acid accumulation in high-starch rations. Programs are formulated around your TMR composition, forage NDF levels, and feeding management to provide targeted protection without compromising energy density.
