Transition Cow Support

Pre- and post-calving nutrition programs that reduce metabolic disorder incidence, support immune function, and set cows up for a productive and healthy lactation.

The Challenge

The transition period is the highest-risk phase in the dairy cow's production cycle.

In the three weeks before and after calving, dairy cows face simultaneous demands from fetal growth, colostrum synthesis, and the onset of lactation — while dry matter intake is suppressed and immune function is naturally compromised. Ketosis, hypocalcemia, displaced abomasum, and retained placenta cluster in this window and have cascading effects on reproduction, production, and longevity.

Our Approach

Targeted metabolic support from dry-off through peak lactation.

ViaFeed transition programs address the three critical metabolic risks simultaneously: anionic salt supplementation and calcium bolus protocols to prevent hypocalcemia; propylene glycol and niacin supplementation to reduce ketosis risk; and antioxidant and immune-support packages — vitamin E, selenium, and beta-carotene — to maintain immune competence through the periparturient period. Programs are adapted to your housing system and dry cow management approach.
